The lowly milk jug has been redesigned. Whether you like the new design or not don’t for one second think that this is the only product package that is going to be redesigned. The new milk jugs are only the tip of the ice berg.
I expect to see all gallon jugs to be overhauled to the shape of the new milk jugs in the very near future. The drastic rise in gas prices is driving all sorts of changes. The new milk jug design will save a huge amount of gas, money, and time for retailers. Saving money is a hot topic for everyone these days, businesses are no exception.

Today is June 21, 2008 and it has a special meaning, other than it being 2 days before my birthday.
The Summer Solstice occurs on June 21st and marks the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. The word “solstice” is derived from Latin (sol=sun, sistit=stands) meaning “sun stands still”. Obviously all days are the same length (24 hours) but the today is the day that has the longest time between sunrise and sunset and the shortest time between the sunset and sunrise. So the Northern Hemisphere has more hours of daylight on June 21st than any other day of the year. The Winter Solstice has the fewest hours of daylight of the year.

Two big thumbs up to the United States Justice Department for bringing charges against two former Bear Sterns hedge fund managers. Ralph Cioffi and Matthew Tannin have surrendered to the FBI and will face federal charges related to mortgage fraud. They are basically accused of intentionally misleading investors in two funds that collapsed last summer due to poor judgment investing in mortgage-backed securities.

Anyone reading the newspaper or watching the nightly news knows that foreclosure rates are sky high. Most people probably think it is only the lower levels of society taking and hit but the recent news of Ed McMahon and Evander Holyfield both also facing foreclosure should show that foreclosure is not an isolated problem.

John McCain recently said “I have a fundamental belief that, I have a great belief that the fundamentals of our economy are very strong, very strong.” John McCain’s economy must be associated with some other nation because it certainly isn’t the way the vast majority of Americans view the economy.
Am I the only one wondering exactly what John McCain considers to be the fundamentals of our economy?

Am I the only one wondering exactly how much money Amazon.com lost today? I don’t think the outage is going to put Amazon out of business. After all, they will be getting tons of traffic just off the publicity generated by people like me who felt the need to write about it.
