Necessity is the mother of invention and coming up with something to deal with high gas prices has become extremely necessary. So a big rave to Steve Fambro for designing the Aptera Typ-1.
Aptera is Greek for “wingless flight”. Classified as a motorcycle the Aptera Typ-1 has 3 wheels. Many people have expressed safety concerns that with only 3 wheels the car will have problems with flipping over. So far this hasn’t been proven with testing though.
The Aptera has no rearview mirrors it uses cameras. Rearview or backup cameras take some getting use to but most people adapt quickly to them.
Production is slated to start in late 2008. However, initial distribution of the Aptera Typ-1 is being limited to California residents only.
Think the Aptera is all the rage and you want to invest in the company? Don’t go rushing to your stock broker, the company is privately held - at least for now.
The design of the Aptera makes is it a conversation piece well beyond gas mileage. Investing in the company may or may not be a good idea, remember the Futuro - the home of the future?
