Belmont results are in. Big Brown has lost in his quest to be a Triple Crown Winner at the 2008 Belmont Stakes. Odds were all in favor of Big Brown winning the Triple Crown, even with a sore bruised hoof. Nobody was expecting the Belmont results to have Da’ Tara in the winner’s circle.
Big Brown lost but everyone is more worried about his health. Rick Dutrow does not want to speak to the press at this time but everyone is hoping for an update from the vet to make sure there isn’t going to be another horse racing tragedy.
Casino Drive was also suffering a hoof related injury and was scratched from the race. Rick Dutrow will wonder for a long time if he should have scratched Big Brown as well.
Big Brown had become this year’s horse racing sensation. Everyone wanted to see Big Brown make history by winning the Triple Crown. Big Brown showed so much promise of delivering the ultimate award in horse racing.
So what were the Belmont odds on Da’ Tara winning? Around 38 to 1. A big pay off for anyone who predicted today’s Belmont results.
I don’t know. The 2008 Belmont Stakes horse race was exciting enough without taking a financial gamble.
Losing has made Big Brown the 11th horse since 1979 to fail at grabbing Triple Crown glory. A big rave for the effort and all the excitement you gave us. The entire racing world is waiting anxiously to make sure you are okay.
