So today I am talking to my sister and she tells me she heard about this newest food craze called “fizzy fruit” so of course I had to research it.

Fizzy fruit is basically just fruit that has been exposed to dry ice and has absorbed the carbonation. It is said to give your taste buds a little kick.

I’m sure many a scientist has discovered this neat little trick. However the term and product name “Frizzy Fruit” is now being marketed as a product. I went to the website and while I applaud the creativity I don’t like it being marketed to schools.

I don’t understand why a school would shell out money on this. Why? Well because they could easily make their own version of frizzy fruit and educate their students at the same time by doing it as a science experiment. Carbonated fruit isn’t rocket science.

Dry ice can be dangerous but so is football and we still let them play. This experiment could really grab the interest of students and help steer them in the direction of science, which America is falling behind in education wise. End of rant on schools not using this craze as a teaching opportunity.

If the local science instructor isn’t creative enough to draft the lesson plan and experiment, just google it, there is at least one video on how to make carbonated fruit yourself.
