Officials believe that a pregnancy pact is the reason there has been an epidemic of teen pregnancies at Gloucester High School in Gloucester, Massachusetts. It is the end of the school year and 17 female students are pregnant, 4 times the typical pregnancy rate.

Teen pregnancy is an issue that needs to be dealt with before it happens. Sex education and access to birth control products need to be discussed as serious topics. People (especially parents of teens) need to stop acting like teenagers don’t have sex. They do, and that is never going to change.

Adoption is always an option, and I wish it was talked about more. If adoption was discussed more and if it wasn’t so expensive for people who want children then maybe fertility clinics would lose some business and children born to teen mothers would have a better chance at getting a great home without bankrupting the adoptive parents.

Abortion grabs all the headlines but since it seems the teens in this instance were trying to get pregnant, I doubt that abortion or adoption are being considered. I don’t understand why a bunch of teenage girls would go out of their way to get pregnant. They obviously have not had a well rounded education. Have they learned how to budget their money and compare that with the cost of raising a child? Are they aware of the economic conditions the United States is facing and the reality of being a person without a college degree looking for work?

Some of the fathers appear to be in their 20s. I can only imagine that they were also educated in this school system and fail to understand that they are legally obligated to provide for the child financially even if they plan to abandon the mother. Considering that one of the fathers is said to be a 24 year old homeless man I think these teenage girls are about to face the cold hard reality of being a single parent.

I hope these girls place the children up for adoption. These girls are not Jamie Lynn Spears and the world is not going to fawn all over them, they will be looked down on and their lives are going to be rough. The children will pay the greatest price however.

Thomas Beatie was formerly a woman so I don't quite get the whole "pregnant man" hype. When a natural born man has a baby then it will be something worth talking about. Using the sex organs you were
