Thomas Beatie was formerly a woman so I don’t quite get the whole “pregnant man” hype. When a natural born man has a baby then it will be something worth talking about. Using the sex organs you were born with, no matter what has transformed on the outside, doesn’t make for a pregnant man.

I have nothing against Thomas Beatie or his decision to have a child. However it really shouldn’t be thought of as a male pregnancy because Thomas Beatie kept his original female sex organs. So on the inside he is still very much female.

It is unique and different and the media loves to hype this sort of thing. But when it comes down to it this is not a pregnant man it is a transgender man who retained his female reproductive capabilities and put them to use.

Science has made great advances in our abilities but in this instance Mother Nature takes all the credit.

I wish Thomas and Nancy a healthy and happy child. I agree they have a right to have children. I have no issue with Thomas giving birth. My only issue is that this is being hyped as something it isn’t.

I have a very close friend who has undergone a sex change, male to female. She is all female. She didn’t keep any part of her former maleness and I consider her to be female. I don’t consider Thomas to be completely male nor will I until he transforms entirely. A partial sex change does not qualify Thomas a man. He is in transition.
