Salvia seeds are all the rage. There is a certain type of salvia (salvia divinorum) that is basically Mother Nature’s little herbal high. However the college kid and teen crowd needs to understand that just because Salvia is legal most places it can be harmful. Be warned that some states are moving to make the sale of salvia divinorum seeds and plants illegal.
If you are looking for a few herb growing tips this is not the blog for you.
The purpose of this post is basically just to warn people that although salvia divinorum is a “natural” high it is potentially harmful. Mother Nature makes many plants that can have negative effects if used by the wrong person or in the wrong manner.
So to the college students looking at salvia divinorum as a legal high (check your local laws or you will need a good lawyer), please consider the health risks. And just because you see all the YouTube videos doesn’t mean that it is safe.
Sally-D, Magic Mint, Diviner’s Sage, Maria Pastora, Sage of the Seers, Lady Salvia, and Purple Sticky are all names associated with Salvia Divinorum.
misinformation.
there are no documented cases of harm resulting from use of Salvia divinorum. neither have i heard or found any anecdotal evidence. Salvia divinorum has been used sacramentally by indiginous peoples for hundreds (perhaps thousands) of years. again, no evidence of harm. Salvia divinorum and its active component Salvinorin-A are not toxic.
I’m not sure what your definition of “harm” is. I based my warning on comments from a friend who is a chemist. He tried Salvia divinorum in college and said a friend had a bad reaction to Salvia divinorum. He didn’t elaborate but I think the person had asthma.
Everything can can be harmful, heck even drinking too much water can kill you. With that in mind I put the warning in my post so that anyone considering trying Salvia divinorum would at least look into the possible risks.
I did correct my post a little because after rereading what posted I realize I had posted an earlier version that was a little too heavy handed on the dangers or risks.
For the record, I do not think Salvia divinorum should be illegal. I am very much against the drug war. I feel tossing cancer patients, who use marijuana to ease their pain, in jail is criminal in itself.
I wonder why salvia divinorum was searched so much. Some time ago I saw it on trends and blogged about it on one of my blogs. Seems someone somewhere tried to ban it.
I was banned from a major Lost TV show forum because I mentioned that I thought that Salvia or something like it was used at one point in the show. It was really a major plot point but the forum police thought any mention of herbal hallucinogenic drugs was a banning offense. Talk about heavy handed.
The potential for harm is there due to it being a hallucinogenic. It isn’t a party drug, but one of self discovery and altered consciousness. That’s where people run into problems with it, they don’t use it properly because they don’t understand the effects of Salvia divinorum.
I am doing research on salvia and am writing articles on salvia. I am going to write 50 articles on various topics on salvia. I want someone to review my article. I will be grateful to you. This is my blog http://salviamonster.com/wpmu
salvia is really not so bad
